What prints well

  • • One clear subject works best. Groups of more than three people lose facial detail.
  • • Your subject needs to stand out from the background. A dark jacket against a dark wall will merge into one shape.
  • • Use high contrast lighting where possible. Shadows and highlights give the print something to work with.
  • • Keep in mind that fine detail like individual hair strands, thin jewellery and text will simplify in the final print. The result is a bold, stylized piece, not a photographic reproduction.
  • • Pet portraits work exceptionally well. Distinct features and strong contrast make for stunning results.
  • • Send the original file from your camera roll, not a screenshot. The higher the resolution the better the detail.

Before you order

Each palette uses only two to four filament colours. Shading comes from how thinly each colour is layered over the one beneath it, so a three colour palette still produces a range of tones, but the result reads as a poster or screen print, not a photograph. That stylised look is the point. Before anything is printed we'll send you a digital preview for approval. Nothing goes on the printer until you're happy with how it looks.

No payment is taken here. I'll email a preview for approval first.
